ConAir's Stacey Orecchio Tries To Bribe Youtubers

Posted July 25, 2016 by YakYak99

ConAir's Stacey Orecchio is using what some would consider to be shady business practices. She's offering Youtuber's free products, such as the Conair Curl Secret, yet she's requiring "commitment".

When a Youtuber told Stacey Orecchio she'd love to demo the Curl Secret product, Stacey said she was happy to send her one. Then, things got a little weird. Usually, a company will just send a product and wait for a review video. Stacey is different. When the Youtuber offered an honest review for the product, this wasn't good enough. The Youtuber told Stacey, "If you're interested in an honest review, I'd be happy to do one, but if you're looking to lock me into anything, then that's not going to happen."

Any other person would appreciate an honest impression or review of a product. Most retailers have faith enough in their product that an honest review is fine. Stacey's response was "I am sure you can understand why we are unable to send out tools without there being some sort of exchange/commitment in place." Some would consider that response as "shady business practices".

Furthermore, if Youtuber's aren't disclosing these types of commitments, then it's deceptive. Plenty of brands send out their products for honest reviews and opinions. Conair is obviously very different. Any review that is promised to be positive is deceptive to the consumer. It's just not right. Youtuber's should expose companies trying to manipulate Youtube First Impression and Review videos.

These practices poison the well. If this continues, nobody will be able to trust these kinds of videos that so many rely on.
