- Classifying games as permitted or prohibited within 90 days of review

- Issuing digital registration certificates to eligible operators, valid for up to ten years

- Handling user complaints as the second-tier grievance authority

- Suspending or cancelling registrations for non-compliance

E-sports and social games without direct financial stakes are eligible for registration, giving compliant operators meaningful regulatory certainty in a market of over 500 million internet users.

For Indian players, the shift is immediate. Real-money casino platforms face direct legal risk, and the financial infrastructure that once supported offshore operators is now under active scrutiny. Players on registered platforms, however, gain new protections including mandatory age verification, parental controls, time-use limits, and a formal grievance process with appeals reaching the Secretary of MeitY.
