Dr Alan Kaye of Shreveport to be the recipient of the American Interventional Pain Physicians Lifetime Achievement Award

Alan Kaye of Shreveport, Louisiana, has been honored as the American Interventional Pain Physicians Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his numerous years of effort.

Alan Kaye of Shreveport, Louisiana, has been honored as the American Interventional Pain Physicians Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his numerous years of effort.

This accolade is bestowed upon him due to his unremitting endeavors to progress and promote Interventional Pain Management via direction, clinical investigation, and devotion.

Dr. Alan Kaye of Shreveport has spent the last 15 years as Chair and Chief of Anesthesiology Services at the University Medical Center in New Orleans. He earned his undergraduate qualifications in biology and psychology from the University of Arizona, and his doctorate in medicine from the same institution's School of Medicine. On top of that, he also acquired a Ph.D. in pharmacology from Tulane School of Medicine.

Dr. Kaye completed a training program in internal medicine at the Alton Ochsner Medical Institution and Facility in New Orleans before embarking on an anesthesia residency at Massachusetts General Hospital. Later, as a clinical investigator at Tulane Medical Center, Dr. Kaye functioned as the principal anesthesia resident, with a position at Texas Heart Institute.

In order to further his studies, Dr. Kaye enrolled in a pain fellowship program at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and also completed a homeopathic pharmacology fellowship at the Medical College of Vienna, Austria. He has been endorsed by the board in anesthesiology, interventional pain, as well as pain medicine.

For a total of 7 years, Dr. Kaye was part of the United States Army Medical Reserves, first as Captain and then as Major. His devotion to the armed forces gained him awards such as the Louisiana Military Honor Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal for his Reserve role during the Gulf War.

He has had a deep-seated ardor for teaching and tutoring medical students and residents. He has made attempts to refine the program at Louisiana State University Shreveport Medical School, which caused an unparalleled pass rate for the USMLE 1 and USMLE 2 last year. Presently, Dr. Kaye is connected with various national committees, including the ASIPP and ABIPP National Board of Directors.

He and his family have been devoting their entire lives to medicine. 

This award is just one of many, and Dr. Alan Kaye Shreveport surely deserves it.
