Whispering Winds is an autobiographical journey in verse that looks back at times of simpler pleasures and life lessons experienced by many in the Baby Boomer generation. In this collection, the author reflects upon the legacy of his forefathers and parents as he weaves his life’s story from an idyllic early childhood growing up on the llanos (grassy plains) of Eastern Venezuela, before recounting memories of early friendships, young romances, and the pursuit of forbidden passions. He reminisces about meeting the love of his life and reflects upon their loving children, before describing some of the bittersweet moments in his life. Next, he offers his thoughts about the impact of the Vietnam War on him and other members of his generation. After relating experiences associated with recent events such as 9-11 and the Covid Pandemic, he concludes with poems about his own existential questions regarding the here, now, and beyond.
