India player Shreyas Iyer believes that Captain Virat Kohli is not just someone who inspires everyone with his positive attitude, but also a person who grows in front of you and you end up learning from him. While speaking to IANS, Shreyas told that Kohli's endless energy and fighting attitude is something that inspires everyone to give it their best to make sure that the team comes becomes a winner. He also said that the positivity around Virat Kohli is something that youngsters can feed off.
"Virat is a great example for all the youngsters in the team because he has that relentless and fighting nature. We pick up a lot from him and he keeps motivating us and he is the kind of energy that if he is around, you are also bound to pick up his routines and habits. It is excellent to not just have him around, but also how he leads us and keeps us pumped up. The way he leads the team is simply amazing," Iyer said.
While he is still learning from Kohli in the national team, he himself leads Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League. And in only his second season as captain (technically first full season), he took the side into the play-offs after seven years in the cash-rich tournament. Shreyas Iyer says that he had a good equation with the former skipper Gautam Gambhir and he also scored a stunning 93 off 40 balls against Kolkata Knight Riders as the captain of the team where they won by 55 runs.
"Personally, it was not very difficult for me also because I was preparing in my mind for a scenario wherein if I was put in such a situation, how I would react. It was a dream come true to lead a franchise like Delhi Capitals and I am really excited and hoping to win the championship," he shared.
However, the youngster would have led his side in the IPL if the COVID-19 didn’t affect the entire world. The global pandemic has claimed and affected several people across the globe and postponed every sporting events too.
