Dubai, United Arab Emirates - Adams Care, a leading maintenance company in Dubai, shares rewarding tips on using AC economically to conserve energy and save up on electricity bills in summer.
Isaac Riego, marketing manager at Adams Care, says, “The first and perhaps the best tip to save up on your AC bills can be to take appropriate preventive maintenance before summer. During summer, our AC’s keep running most of the time, which naturally exerts more motion. If your AC lacks maintenance or cleaning, it brings in small breakdowns and issues within the system. These include clogging, refrigerant leak, freezing along with another sensor, frozen evaporator, and drainage problems. These issues tend to exert more pressure to keep your ac performing to meet the temperature requirements, consuming more energy. On the other hand, as these issues reduce the cooling capacity of your AC, it will also require your AC to run longer than it normally would if the AC was maintained- again consuming more energy.”
Apart from the crucial preventive AC maintenance, Riego says that people can also consider small home arrangements that can keep the heat out, making the AC run and perform less than it usually would, conserving energy. He discussed these arrangements as follows, “Keep summer home arrangements shady and try to block sun rays and heat from getting into the house. When the heat gets into the house, the AC will have to work for longer and harder to stabilize the indoor temperature. So keep the blinds, curtains, shutters, drapes, and awnings drawn and closed. For sun-facing windows, consider light-colored curtains or blinds so that they can deflect the heat instead of absorbing them into the house.”
As a final tip, the HVAC experts at Adams Care also highlighted that specific AC usage changes could also conserve energy in summer. They believe that as the evening air is naturally cooler, people can take advantage of it by opening a window and turning off the AC at night to conserve energy. Further, people can also consider reducing heat-emitting appliances in the house like television, computer, printer, the kitchen oven and turning them off when not used to keep heat generation minimal. When heat emitting devices are on, they raise the indoor temperature, which forces the AC to work harder by consuming more energy to keep the temperature under control.
