Survey results indicate that most Americans viewed Florida, New York and California as the most favorable economies, with Maryland coming in at number 5 out of the 7 states. However, regarding economic opportunity, Maryland is at the top.
California, Florida and New York remained at the top of the list when it came to healthcare as well, with Maryland returning to the #5 spot as reported by survey results. Actual ratings show that Maryland ranks #1 again, towering over the perceived front runners.
When it comes to household income, Maryland is number one in the country, but survey responders didn’t think so, placing them in the number six position, another incorrect assumption about one of the 13 original colonies.
In terms of racial equality, survey respondents ranked California and New York among the top, when in actuality, Florida and Maryland take the top spots in the rankings, leaving California in the middle and New York near the bottom.
The sentiments about Maryland continue throughout the rest of the categories. California, New York and Florida dominate in population. And it seems that played into some assumptions survey participants relied on as they ranked the states. Maryland may have been virtually forgettable had it not been included in the survey.
