Natural bio-material research and development company Dr. Oregonin Co., Ltd. (CEO Choi Sun-eun, Professor of Forest Biomaterials Engineering at Kangwon National University) has signed an export supply contract with a Vietnamese company, marking its entry into the Vietnamese market.
Dr. Oregonin announced that it participated in the "2023 Mega Earth Expo," held in Hanoi, Vietnam on September 30-31, operating an exhibition booth and securing a $1 million supply contract with the Vietnamese company, BIO HUB JS.
The Mega Earth Expo is a premium exhibition that showcases and facilitates exchanges of outstanding products between Korea and Vietnam. It provides opportunities for high-value-added businesses by exhibiting innovative Korean products in sectors such as cosmetics, food, and software, where new technologies are applied.
Supported by the Kangwon National University Startup-Centric University Business Group, Dr. Oregonin participated in the exhibition. The group selected and supported five companies, including Dr. Oregonin, Defensta, IRH&C, Creanature, and Motomo, to operate exhibition booths. These companies introduced their products to Vietnamese buyers and conducted export consultations.
Dr. Oregonin specializes in developing functional materials and products derived from natural substances. Since its establishment in March 2022, the company has developed 10 anti-aging multi-functional products in just over a year, achieving both technological innovation and product commercialization.
Based on its excellent technological capabilities, the company has been selected for various government-backed initiatives, such as TIPS (Startup Growth Technology Development Program) by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and the R&D project for nurturing research and development zones by the Ministry of Science and ICT. Leveraging the export contract with BIO HUB JS, Dr. Oregonin plans to actively target the Vietnamese market.
Dr. Oregonin’s CEO, Choi Sun-eun, stated, "With the secured investment from TIPS, the Korea Forest Service's projects, and the Startup-Centric University program, we will focus on enhancing the development of the world’s first new materials derived from natural tree resources for the treatment and prevention of muscle loss."
Choi further added, "This year, we secured Series A funding and plan to start clinical trials next year. Within the next two to three years, we aim to gain individual recognition for health functional foods utilizing native tree resources from Gangwon Province. Starting with Vietnam, we plan to enter more overseas markets and rapidly grow into a unicorn company."
