Thinking of starting a band, I’ll go ahead and assume you already have your band members set. It is a plus to have members who can play multiple instruments. These days bands are made up of literally anything, you can have a saxophonist, pianist, flute player, horn player and voila! Good to go! However, there are those necessary instruments that we needn’t even talk about, such as a drum set and a great bass guitar like the Guitarra Ibanez, to hold down the low end.
Here are some other instruments you should consider incorporating.
1. Keyboard / Piano
Your band could use a grand piano alongside the drum set to hold down the low end if you don’t have a guitarist yet. A great choice is the Teclado Yamaha or Yamaha YDP 164 keyboard. You could never go wrong with these—quality sound and feel.
2. Unique instrument
To stand out from the crowd and gain recognition, your band needs to have its unique sound. Getting a unique instrument that is not common in a lot of groups is a great way to achieve this. For example, you could include a Yamaha YFL-272 flute in your music or even a trombone. Be different.
3. PA Speakers
Say you want to set up a local gig in your neighborhood as you start, you need speakers to project the sound to your audience. PA speakers from renowned manufacturers such as RCF are the best way to achieve this. They are a set of speakers that include front of house speakers, subwoofers, monitor speakers, powered speakers, modern Bluetooth capable speakers and speaker stands to enable you to place them strategically.
4. Microphones
However big or small your crowd is, you will need a microphone to get your sound into the PA. You cannot compromise on the quality as your performance and reputation depend on it. Shure Sm58 is an excellent choice when it comes to microphones.
In conclusion, always ensure that you get your musical instruments from trusted dealers and do proper research before settling on anything. Break a leg!
