PARTY FOR THE CDP TO DECRIMINALIZE PSYCHEDELICS
AT THE GRAMMY MUSEUM FRIDAY NIGHT
Los Angeles, California

A party to decriminalize psychedelics will be held exclusively for media correspondents and delegates attending the California Democratic Party (CDP) convention this Friday night, May 26, at The GRAMMY Museum in Los Angeles.

Representing more than ten million Democrats, the CDP ranks as the third largest political organization in the nation, only smaller than the National Democratic and National Republican parties. The CDP Convention will be held May 25-28 at the LA Convention Center and the JW Marriott Hotel at LA Live, less than a five-minute walk from The GRAMMY Museum.

This is the first live, in-person CDP convention since 2019, before Covid. Attendance is expected to peak at 5,000, including 1,000 international media correspondents and 4,000 elected officials, candidates, and state party members.

This is the first event to decriminalize psychedelics ever held at a CDP convention. To “Decriminalize Psychedelics for Therapeutic Purposes” the party will promote Senate Bill 58 (SB58), two resolutions being considered by the CDP, and also establish a new CDP chartered organization. Copies of SB58 and the resolutions are attached.

The party will be held on the Rooftop Terrace of The GRAMMY Museum at LA Live, 800 West Olympic Boulevard in downtown Los Angeles, from 6:00 p.m., Friday, May 26, to 2:00 a.m., Saturday, May 27. Suggested attire is “Psychedelic Business Casual.”

The GRAMMY Museum usually closes at 5:00 p.m., but it will be open for free to our guests (an $18 value) from 6:00 p.m. to midnight. Access will be through the VIP entrance on Figueroa Street, between the main entrance and “Fixins Soul Kitchen” restaurant.

The host organization, “Helpful Opportunities for Psychedelic Education (H.O.P.E.),” is a new coalition of progressive Democrats and the psychedelic community organized to “Decriminalize Psychedelics for Therapeutic Uses.” This party is its debut event.
