Harry Coumnas, who dreamed of becoming an astronaut since childhood, has turned his aspiration into reality through dedication and rigorous training. Today, he serves as a pilot astronaut—commanding both space shuttles and International Space Station missions. In this role, he is responsible for the safety of the crew, mission success, and the secure operation of spacecraft.
An explorer at heart, Harry travels into space, experiences weightlessness, and sees Earth from a perspective few ever witness. Before flying his first mission, he completed extensive training to master every element of space operations, from onboard equipment handling to emergency protocols.
In addition to his piloting responsibilities, Harry Coumnas is at the forefront of researching and developing new technologies that could enhance future space exploration. He supervises shuttle operations, coordinates crew activities, and corrects system malfunctions to ensure smooth missions. Harry also contributes to the planning and training of upcoming exploratory initiatives.
As part of his mission duties, he communicates with mission control, reports findings in real-time, and conducts critical scientific experiments in microgravity. He monitors the status of spacecraft systems and swiftly addresses anomalies or malfunctions.
Harry plays a pivotal role in the global coordination of rescue efforts, offering expertise in planning rescue missions and deploying support personnel across diverse environments.
With a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university, Harry combines technical expertise with hands-on experience to pilot spacecraft, perform scientific research, capture imagery, collect samples, and maintain constant communication with Earth.
