Beds for Homeless Pets Campaign is Already at $50,000

One week and Mission Driven has raised $50,000 for their campaign, Beds for Shelter Pets. This provides shelter pets beds in Missouri and Kansas. They want to keep this campaign going and make it nationwide.

Mission Driven in Kansas City launched the “Beds for Shelter Pets” campaign to raise funds to purchase beds for every homeless shelter pet. In a week, $50,000 has been donated, and that number is rising.

This fall, Mission Driven aims to provide every homeless pet living in an animal shelter a warm, comfortable bed to sleep on across Kansas and Missouri.

Numbers show that 6.5 million animals enter U.S shelters every year (ASPCA). And rural animal shelters don't have the funding to provide animals a warm bed. Through Beds for Shelter Pets, the animal obsessed can help provide a warm, cozy bed to a shelter pet.

We would start with the smallest, most rural organizations and work our way up in Kansas and Missouri. And since we have hit that goal, we can now expand to another state. And if we hit that goal, we another state. We hope to take this nationwide.

Scott started this campaign three years ago. He said, “Small animal shelters in rural areas have few; if any, volunteers and almost no donations. Not because they don’t care but because residents have no extra funds. So beds become the last thing some of these homeless pets will receive in a shelter. But what if we could change that?”

Launched on September 20, 2020, the campaign has raised $50,000 (or 8,347 pet beds) through corporate sponsors and the GoFundMe link. With the money raised, Mission Driven will purchase pet beds for as many homeless shelter pets as possible and with the help of a corporate sponsor all the beds will be delivered to the shelters!

With over 68,000 followers on their social media platforms, Mission Driven calls on Americans to support this campaign and donate $5.99 to purchase one IKEA mat bed. People can contribute to the GoFundMe campaign.

Why an IKEA mat? The mats keep the animals dry, warm, and cozy and improve their chances of adoption. These ultra-soft mats fit perfectly on a Kuranda bed. They are incredibly absorbent and easy to launder, allowing volunteers to spend less time doing laundry and more time with the animals.
