With new data indicating remote jobs receive twice as many candidates as non-remote jobs do, the CEO of a remote worker resource site says the benefits for companies to take their recruitment online are more than clear.

Remote Worker is an online jobs board and resource website for remote workers, remote work jobseekers, and hiring managers, employers and HR personnel seeking to recruit and hire top talent for remote positions throughout the US.

Joseph Boll, Remote Worker CEO, says the data has never been more clear for why businesses should turn to online jobs boards and recruitment services like his to win over the competition in a tight labor market.

“With so much competition for a pool of candidates that are constantly being offered more and better perks, can you really stand to lose by turning to online resources for your hiring process?” Boll said. “If taking your candidate search online already doubles your applicants, you can increase that even further if you use talent acquisition specialists to really target the right talent pool.”

Recruiters have long picked up on the trend that job ads attract more applicants when there is at least some possibility for remote work. But new data has provided a figure of exactly how much more successful remote jobs are in attracting candidates. According to a recently released survey by Datapeople, “remote jobs attract 120 percent larger candidate pools and 120 percent more female candidates” than jobs that are not remote. The benefits for using online job boards therefore lies not only in potentially more than doubling the number of applicants, and thereby increasing the likelihood of securing top talent, but also in helping companies achieve diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) targets.

Further, jobs that cannot be carried out remotely have begun offering alternative perks like more flexible hours in an effort to keep up with the fierce competition in the labour market due to the immense popularity of remote work. For their part, more remote jobs have begun offering home office stipends or venturing into “work from anywhere” options that “allow employees to be truly nomadic for a short period of time.” In fact, Datapeople noted “remote work has grown 400 percent since 2019”, and countless more recent studies from diverse groups have shown that most Americans value remote work opportunities more than even salary or other traditional perks.

“Work-life balance has become almost a new kind of currency in the world of work,” said Boll. “In this critical moment, businesses should take advantage of the resources available to make sure they get their recruitment right.”
