As an experienced teacher at the University of Oslo, he must be capable of exhibiting all of the following during his lessons.

Firstly, Niko Shefer needs to be a very organized person who understands the time constraints that he has to face as a teacher. As such, he need to be able to maintain his focus on what’s important at all times to ensure students get what they need from his lessons.

He also has a rich sense of humor that allows him to make his lessons more enjoyable for his students. While the ability to be funny is not crucial to success as an educator, finding a way to keep your students engaged and attentive, particularly when covering dry topics, is. Shafer makes use of his sense of humor to break up tension in the classroom and deliver information in a way that his students will find interesting.

However, the most important quality that Niko Shefer brings to his work as a teacher is his desire to learn as much as possible in every single capacity. Despite having been in the role for many years, he knows that there is still an enormous amount that he can learn from his teachers and fellow students, all of which can be applied to making his lessons better. Furthermore, as a professor of English literature, he has dedicated himself to discovering new authors and reading their works, as this broadens his frame of reference when speaking on the subject.
