Dress code of women in the Middle East.

Here is a brief article on the Middle East's dress code for those who are planning to travel there. This article will provide a brief overview of why the Middle East has a specific dress code for women.

Women in the Middle East must follow the Dress Code as outlined by the Quran (Book of Islam). The Islamic faith says that women should be protected against the lustful gazes of men. She is responsible for protecting her modesty by following the Islamic dress code. Allah created laws to protect women, to prevent them being exploited by media and anyone who uses sexuality to lure men to purchase products or services.

According to the Quran, believing women should "lower their gaze" and protect their modesty. They should also not show their beauty or ornaments except as required by law. [Quran: 24.31]

Men: "Say to the believing men that they should lower the gaze and keep their modesty. That will result in greater purity and God will be well aware of all that they do." [Quran: 24.30].

These are the conditions for women's dress codes:

1. The clothing must cover the entire body. Only the hands and face of the wearer can be seen. It is impossible to see through clothing material
3. Clothing can't look like clothing for men
4. The clothing design cannot be compared to those worn by non-believing women.
5. Clothing should not attract attention.
6. For the sake of improving your status or reputation, you should not wear clothing.

These are the most common clothes worn by UAE women.

1. Abaya is a long, flowing black gown that covers female clothing. You can have the Abaya plain or with some design. You can also wear other western or local clothing underneath the Abaya.

2. Hijab refers to a covering that covers the head so the hair is not exposed.

3. Gishwa refers to a thick, black veil that covers the face. It is thin enough to allow women to see through it but thick enough that other people cannot identify it.

4. Shela is a material that covers the face. Some Shela have been made with trendy accessories like Givenchy or Dior in recent years.

This dress code is only for Muslim women living in the Middle East. Because of the economic growth in many middle east countries and their status as travel destinations, visitors and non Muslims are encouraged to dress casually. Women should be modest and avoid wearing tight, fitted or revealing clothes. Long skirts, jeans and shirts are safe. Shorts and bikinis are acceptable at certain locations. You may be subject to unwanted attention if you expose more of your skin. A veil is another thing you should have on hand in case of visiting religious sites, government buildings, or museums.
