MDF board is a substitute product. That is, it has practically the same uses. Therefore, it is common to ask which option is better depending on the use that will be given.
What is MDF Wood?
Landhausdielen stands for medium-density fibreboard. This type of board is made from wood fibers (approximately 85%) and compressed synthetic resins, which gives it a higher density than traditional agglomerates or plywood. It is commonly called MDF wood however this is not accurate, since we are not talking about wood, but a product derived from it.
During the manufacturing process, certain chemicals can be added to add additional features to the MDF, such as repelling water or preventing the appearance of fungi or mold.
Flexural strength: Although there are important differences between manufacturers in terms of absolute values, on average an MDF has much more resistance to bending. For example, a 16 mm thick MDF has resistance to approx. of 30 N / mm2, while an agglomerate of 14 N / mm2.
Moisture resistance: Neither material has a special moisture resistance. However, it is more common to find water-resistant MDF, than water-resistant chipboard.
Weight: The weight of the fertigparkett aus bambus MDF or chipboard depends directly on the density. In this sense, there are differences between each manufacturer, although in general terms the MDF is usually denser and therefore heavier.
For example, the density of 16mm thick chipboard is usually between 675-700 kg / m3, while a mdf of equal thickness between 700-720 kg / m3.
Application of Finishes: The massivholzdielen is a material with a smooth surface, ideal for the application of all kinds of finishes. The agglomerate is rough, and the result after sanding is not good. Therefore, if we are going to lacquer, paint or varnish, the only option is MDF.
Advantages of fertigparkett wood:
The fact of being made from fibers of very small size, practically dust, allows it to be carved or milled in a similar way to solid wood.
One of the great advantages of MDF compared to solid wood is its price, much more competitive.
It is not necessary to use tools other than the one we can use to work with solid or plywood.
The surface of this type of wood is ideal for using paints and varnishes. However, to achieve a perfect finish it is preferable to use solvent-based paints instead of water-based paints. The result is the same in all directions as there is no grain.
