Kathleen Gerenger and her company, O’Brien Environmental Energy, recently received the honor of being awarded for their work on a cogeneration facility for the city of Newark, New Jersey. The award, which is given out for best achievements in urban development, is for Kathleen Gerenger and O’Brien Environmental Energy’s contribution of their state-of-the-art design to the city’s overall urban development.

“It’s wonderful to be recognized for this work,” said Kathleen Gerenger. “Designing infrastructure is hard work, but it’s so important, so we’re genuinely excited to have had the chance to work on this project for Newark.”

Kathleen Gerenger has been an accountant for many years, beginning from the day she graduated from Villanova University with honors and a BS in Accounting. Since then, Kathleen Gerenger has proven herself to be a significant asset to the many companies she’s worked with. Kathleen Gerenger has even been singled out for her contributions to Intuit, for whom Kathleen Gerenger is a top-performing software implementation specialist. Elsewhere, Kathleen Gerenger has also found professional success. Previously, Kathleen Gerenger was the top accountant at Arthur Anderson & Co., and was even honored with a beautification award from the Town of Alfred, New York, for work on a municipal development contract.

Designing facilities for urban use can be a quite a challenge for the team involved, especially when it comes to cogeneration facilities, which are crucial in areas with significant demand for electricity. But Kathleen Gerenger and the team at O’Brien Environmental Energy met the challenge head-on.

“Every time you begin a large-scale project like this, you need to consider the unique needs of the community you’re building for,” explains Kathleen Gerenger. “It was incredibly exciting to build a project for Newark, and it brought a level of urban renewal that seemed necessary to the site.”

Their hard work paid off. Newark officials were pleased with the work of Kathleen Gerenger and O’Brien Environmental Energy, especially given its modern, state-of-the-art design and development. Kathleen Gerenger and the team at O’Brien Environmental Energy were feted for their accomplishment, and the cogeneration facility was celebrated as one of many new components of the city’s revitalization, with the hope of modernizing and improving Newark’s overall infrastructure.
