Merl Roy Cappoen has recently ramped up his production of short and long form fiction pieces.

Merl Roy Cappoen has been ensconced in the hard working world of the wood products industry for many years. As he has spent his time in this industry, Merl Roy Cappoen realized that there were other talents he wanted to engage and utilize in his life. As his career in the wood products industry has slowly decreased in demands, Merl Roy Cappoen has ventured out into multiple areas of interest. Among those interests are music, poetry, and writing fiction. Recently, Merl Roy Cappoen increased the amount of time spent writing fiction, and hopes to self-publish a set of short stories in the near future.

Merl Roy Cappoen's love of fiction began as a young man. When things got difficult at home and at school, Merl Roy Cappoen turned to the worlds contained between the pages of books as a place of solace. As he grew, Merl Roy Cappoen continued to harbor a deep love for the written word and an appreciation for the difficulty of creating a fictional world that held together under scrutiny. According to Merl Roy Cappoen, world building is the most difficult part of writing fiction. “Regardless of the type of fiction,” explained Merl Roy Cappoen, “it is incredibly hard to build up a coherent world around the story. There are all types of details that need to be explored and built up to give the world a well-rounded feel.”

Merl Roy Cappoen prides himself on building excellent worlds around his short stories. Merl Roy Cappoen often sets his stories against the backdrop of human history to ease the process of world building. Merl Roy Cappoen knows that sometimes the best way to write fiction is to have it be contained inside an environment of realistic historical facts. This way, people are drawn more easily into the story.

Merl Roy Cappoen has recently completed writing his autobiography, which begins with his first memories, and continues up into his 53rd year. Merl Roy Cappoen’s love of life, combined with his love of writing, made the autobiography possible. His next project is a “good old fashioned cowboy story.” Without technology, skyscrapers, or any of the trappings of modern life, this will stick to the basics of cowboy stories as we’ve known them for many decades.
