When you are setting up Xtra Mail in Windows Mail, you will be able to process your messages straight from your machine. Firstly, open Windows mail, then click the settings menu, which is normally a gear icon. Select “Accounts” and then choose “Add account.” If Xtra Mail is not listed directly in the email services, select “Other account.”
An email credential prompt will appear. Enter your Xtra Mail address and password. Use the following as standard configurations for the incoming (IMAP or POP) & outgoing (SMTP) mail server settings:
IMAP (recommended for syncing across devices):
Incoming mail server: imap.xtramail.com
Port: 993
Encryption: SSL
POP (if you prefer to download emails to one device):
Incoming mail server: pop.xtramail.com
Port: 995
Encryption: SSL
SMTP (for sending emails):
Outgoing mail server: smtp.xtramail.com
Port: 465 or 587 (with TLS)
Encryption: SSL
Ensure that the option to require authentication for the outgoing server is checked. This mirrors your incoming mail settings. Typically, Windows Mail will test these settings by sending a test message once you have entered all required details. If setup is successful, your Xtra Mail account will be added, and you can start receiving/sending email directly through Windows Mail.
