Los Angeles, California (May 30, 2014) - A non-profit organization and a Los Angeles middle school have partnered to make student writers dreams come true. On May 21, 2014 the organization, Youth Vision Inc, and Hubert Howe Bancroft Middle School came together to announce that 49 students from the middle school became published authors. Year to date, 97 students have become published authors from Bancroft Middle School and that number continues to grow.

Bancroft Middle School is the only school in the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) that has this amount of students who are published authors. The student writings are distributed through the largest online book retailer, Amazon. The chapter books for sale on Amazon contain writings of anthologies, fiction, non-fiction, cookbooks, biographies and more.

At the event on May 21, 2014, students were recognized for their accomplishment by receiving certificates from members of the community. Participants of the event included Stephanie Cohen from Councilman Richard Bloom’s office, Sonia Lopez from California State Representative Holly Mitchell’s office, Ben Seinfield from Councilman Tom LaBonge’s office, Steve Zimmer LAUSD School Board Member, and three year sponsor, Ali Trass, Vice President Branch Manager of Santa Monica and La Brea from Chase Bank.

Currently Youth Vision Inc partners closely with Vision Distribution LLC in Nashville, Tennessee and Bancroft Middle School in Hollywood, California to make these student dreams and ambitions a reality.

The 501(c)(3) non-profit, Youth Vision Inc, was developed to give students from youth grades 7 through 12, the opportunity to express their dreams and visions through writing and publishing their own books. Youth Vision Inc encourages youth of all ages to develop their full creative potential through reading and writing. Youth Vision Inc helps create a unique environment where youth participants experience a sense of pride, confidence, and accomplishment. This non-profit organization provides a challenging, rewarding, creative, and respectful way to bring the participant’s imagination to life.
