06/10/21: “How does it feel to have everything and then lose it?" Samantha Laux's recently-launched novel, Youngblood, answers this question as it dives into the fascinating intricacy of human emotions and their psyche.
Humans can either break or persevere in the face of the unexpected when it strikes, and it strikes with force and invulnerability. Samantha Laux explores the theme of loss, separation, and perseverance in her book.
The main character of the novel, Russell Youngblood, is faced with unexpected challenges. He seems to have it all — a close, loving family at forty-something and a motorcycle club he is proud to lead. But his seemingly perfect life falls apart in the face of a drug deal of which he chooses to bear the brunt. But it was never as simple as this; his decision inevitably leads to a chain reaction that changes his life.
He is sentenced to three years in prison, and upon his release, he finds himself in different circumstances altogether. As he deals with his inner turmoil, his life threatens to tear apart.
“Youngblood is young adult fiction,” a spokesperson explained. "The book is meant to resonate with individuals from all age groups through its characters and plot. The inner conflict faced by the main character is much like many of us face in our own life. The weight of our own choices can become a burden sometimes, and we're left to deal with ourselves. Samantha Laux spins a tale of deep emotions and suspense as Russell navigates through life that is not on his terms."
The story weaves through the turmoil of the main character, Russell Youngblood, as he learns that life is messy and unpredictable. However, the pressing questions remain, “will he get the life he lost?”
The novel deals with themes and ideas that are pretty relatable at various stages of life and helps examine life through the eyes of people from different walks of life.
The trailer for Samantha Laux’s book is out and can be viewed on her website.
