A federal lawsuit filed on May 8, 2014 by Keds, LLC claims that many shoes made by competing shoe manufacturer Vans violate Keds' blue label mark that appears on the heels of its sneakers.

In 1938, Walter Frederick Morrisson (inventor of the flying plastic disc now known as the Frisbee®) quickly realized an opportunity to sell his discs for a profit. This realization occurred when Morrison and his girlfriend were tossing a cake pan to each other on the beach in Santa Monica. A stranger offered to pay 25 cents for Morrison’s cake pan (which only cost 5 cents). The rest, as they say, is history.
