According to the MD, the prime focus of Topaz International Limited Kenya will be to deliver the best consumer experience in Kenya. He recalled the contribution made by Topaz Kenya in introducing new brands, products, new consumer tastes and in redefining the shopping experience of Kenyans.

The retail market of Kenyan has a mix of local and international chains. According to the MD, the new products have expanded the vast portfolio of Topaz in terms of branded household goods, kitchen, dining, toiletries, personal care, stationery and party ware.

In Kenya’s retail landscape, Topaz International Limited has an impeccable place as a leading importer and distributor of the top brands in supermarkets across the Eastern African region.

The new range of household articles promotes good living concept by blending healthy living, aesthetics at very decent costs. He mentioned Nachtmann Kenya glassware products as one the most sought after offering.

Nothing that the company’s strengths has always been in meeting requirements of the fast growing socioeconomic market of East Africa, the MD said, forging close relationships with manufacturers is the company’s forte and customer relations management has been given a new thrust for that.

Topaz has grown in scale positively competing with most retailers including domestic names Nakumatt and Tuskys.

Sounding bullish about the future, the MD said the outlook for the coming years is upbeat as the brands portfolio are expanding fast to keep pace with the huge market requirements.

With Kenya and its capital Nairobi becoming the hub of retail, the challenge is more competition. Already top end malls such as The Junction, Sarit Centre and Garden City, Westgate, Galleria and others have led to consumers seeking the best product and brand experience.

A recent study said Nairobi is the largest retail market, which is growing frenetically, in terms of shopping floor space and mall space. Upcoming malls like Rivers and The Hub in Karen will be adding more retail space.

The MD said Topaz will be adding more international brands to its portfolio either through partnerships with local operators or franchise agreements.

This will put Topaz ahead of other FMCG sector distributors. The MD reiterated that the company is set to clock double digit growth in the next two years as retailing in Kenya is poised for a big leap.
