Numerous Indian schools in Dubai have seen an increase in enrollment, notably from families that have just immigrated to the UAE.

Head teachers reported receiving requests for admissions and school tours from parents who had just moved to the UAE, as opposed to the regular mobility of students across UAE schools. According to analysts, who anticipate a fresh surge of post-pandemic immigration, Dubai's population is expected to roughly quadruple over the course of the next 20 years.

People relocating to the emirate must take the expense of schooling into account. In Dubai, tuition costs range greatly. English Language Private School, which serves students in years 1-6, charges between Dh4,560 and Dh6,720 ($1,240 to $1,830) a year on the lower end of the spectrum. For Years 1 through 6, Gems Founders School charges Dh27,559, whereas Repton Dubai charges between Dh59,754 and Dh70,221 for the same period. More than four out of ten parents of students attending private schools in Dubai spend less than Dh18,000 ($4,900) on tuition annually, according to a KHDA survey released in November. The monthly tuition at Indian schools in Dubai ranges from roughly Dh360 to Dh5,200. For kindergarten, Gulf Model School charges around Dh4,200 a year, whereas Gems Modern Academy charges Dh35,360 annually. At Gems Modern Academy, grade 12 tuition is Dh52,427.

Indian schools are in great demand. The admission of 700 additional students since January, according to Shiny Davison, director of learning at Gulf Model School, is sufficient to start a new school. 500 of them arrived in Dubai this year from India. Nearly 1,000 students reportedly left the school during the epidemic, but 700 new students have already joined this year, prompting the institution to end admissions early. They will have to cease accepting new students since their school has a 3,500-maximum enrollment, explained Ms. Davison. The majority of parents are relocating here due to the employment prospects and expanding economy, she stated. During the epidemic, a lot of families returned to India. A lot of families relocated to India during the epidemic. But this year, they started admission very late and have already enrolled 700 pupils, a student said.

Dubai's Gems Modern Academy's principal, Nargish Khambatta, stated that over the course of the year, they’ve seen a steady stream pour in. February and March are the busiest months for accepting new students, and this year has seen a significantly greater intake than usual. Normally, schools participate in an internal float, but this time, they saw students arriving from India. There has obviously been a change. They had 105 applications from abroad in 2021, and this year they're getting more. Students in India were prevented from attending in-person lessons for months due to lockdowns. Many parents had expressed worry about the students' academic burden. Senior executives and businesspeople have relocated with their family because they believe it to be the most secure or secure environment. According to her, primary-level inquiries predominated.

The bulk of the new families of Gems New Millennium School, according to Fatima Martin, the school's principal, have relocated from important Indian cities. 2,200 students attend the institution. About 200 students who are recent immigrants have registered in the school since January, she added. She said that improved education, which was important to many Indian families, may be another factor in the move.

Since the reopening of borders last year, Writer Relocations, which manages over 8,000 relocations annually, has seen an increase in family relocations to the GCC area, particularly the UAE. The immigration and relocation regulations are significantly increasing as border limitations are loosened, according to Mr. Simon Mason, chief operating officer and chief revenue officer of Writer Relocations. ‘The number of families relocating to the UAE is significantly influenced by the Indian subcontinent. We are observing an upsurge in migration from nations like the UK and other EMEA nations. Despite the fact that there were few relocations during the Covid era, we anticipate a significant increase in the number of individuals migrating to the UAE as the market becomes more stable. We have taken care of more than 600 assignees and their families with ourservices for expats in 2020–2021. We anticipate that when people and corporations restart relocation preparations in the following months, the numbers will steadily increase.’ He said that the UAE was one of the hubs for expat travel. India, the UK, the US, Qatar, China, and Singapore accounted for the majority of migration to the UAE.

An Indian IT project manager named Gidhin George Kochuthara relocated to the UAE in December with his wife Emini Gidhin and three kids. When the chance to work in the UAE became available through his firm, Mr. Kochuthara decided to take it. His key motivations were a career opportunity, a tax-free income, and climatic and cultural parallels to India. Because there are so many professional prospects, Dubai is like a fantasy place. He is in charge of a project called robotic process automation for a customer in Dubai, explained Mr. Kochuthara. He said that while his wife was employed by a global company in India, she had quit her position to relocate to the United Arab Emirates. Galvin and Elvin Kochuthara are students of Gulf Model School.
