Sydney, 1st December, 2023. Young Endeavour is Australia's premier youth development program, offering ocean sailing expeditions for young people aged 16 to 23. The program is designed to help young Australians develop leadership, teamwork and resilience through challenges and adventures in the ocean. The program is open to anyone aged 16 and over who is physically fit and able to swim at least 50 meters. Young Endeavour is a life-changing opportunity for adventurous young Australians to explore the wonders of the ocean and build strong relationships with each other and with the wider community.
Applications for the sailing experience of a lifetime are only available during two specific application windows each year – February through March and August through September. This is the perfect opportunity for young Australians to take part in an expedition and experience a maritime adventure unlike any other.
Young Endeavour expeditions are conducted under the watchful eyes of the Australian Navy, which ensures the highest safety standards of seamanship. Participants have the opportunity to sail aboard the magnificent tall ship, the STS Young Endeavour, which is the program’s seagoing platform.
Under the guidance of the Navy’s experienced crew, young Australians will learn the ins and outs of sailing, navigating, and teamwork while forming lifelong friendships. Not only will they be able to sail the open seas, but they will also be able to engage in a variety of activities that are designed to improve leadership skills, teamwork, and self-esteem.
The sailing experience is more than just a fun and exciting way to spend time with friends. It is designed to help young Australians develop responsibility, resilience and a love of nature.
