Best Meal Replacement Shake for Weight Loss

Posted March 28, 2012 by amyperry80

Most people rarely lose weight consuming meal replacement shakes – why? Because these shakes do not have the necessary nutrients to burn fat.

The first mistake people make is the type of protein they choose. Protein is a vital ingredient in any meal replacement shake to speed up your metabolism. However, two common protein—both soy and whey—are problematic.

Soy protein can act like estrogen, which is a fat-promoting hormone. Soy gained popularity largely because Asians eat it and are thinner and healthier than Americans but this logic is faulty. In their traditional diets, Asians rarely consume as much soy as Americans and Asians don’t eat soy as a protein powder, which is highly processed and hard to digest.

Whey protein powder, which comes from cow’s milk, is also highly processed and is most often made using heat. Whey naturally contains cholesterol and when this is exposed to heat, it becomes oxidized (damaged), somewhat like butter that becomes rancid if it isn’t refrigerated.

Other problematic ingredients in meal replacement shakes include sugar, which stops fat burning cold. In the presence of any sugar fat burning gets nullified.

Meal replacement shakes should burn fat and heal the metabolism. To do this, you have to include; (1) a high quality protein, (2) high nutrients and (3) have zero sugar.

The nutrient dense ingredients will heal the metabolism, which is a vital point people miss. This is why the Atkins Diet™ (high protein) might cause some weight loss but then the person plateaus or quickly gains the weight back. Why? Because they did not heal the metabolism.

Out of all the food you could eat, the vegetable kale is at the top of the list. Kale is one of the healthiest foods you can eat because it contains massive amounts of concentrated nutrients, including vitamins A, K and C, potassium and calcium.

In a meal replacement shake, egg white protein is an exceptionally good fat-burning trigger because it is a very dense protein and is low in carbohydrates but rich in nutrients.

The second best protein source is spirulina, which is a blue-green algae that grows in freshwater lakes and ponds and it’s a nutritional powerhouse. In addition to being loaded with vitamins A and E, iron, potassium and calcium, it contains essential fats and high-quality protein that is easy to digest and especially effective for weight loss.

Flaxseed is a leading plant source of healthy omega-3 fats as well as fiber, vitamins, minerals and some protein. Its nutrient-dense fats make you feel satisfied for longer periods of time and keep your body in good health.

Stevia is an excellent zero carb sweet herb that I recommend quite often, however, it by itself gives an after taste that is a bit earthy and even bitter. This is why I recommend combining it with one of the best sugar alcohols called erythritol.

Resource Box: Due to the need to provide for a better http://drberg.com/kaleshake.php/ meal replacement shake , I created Dr. Berg’s Instant Kale Shake which combines high quality http://drberg.com protein powder with high quality nutrients yet still making it taste delicious with the combination of both stevia and erythritol.
