Hallmark - CSpace Involved in Class Action - Accused of Fraud Against Mothers

Posted July 19, 2016 by CSpaceReview

Hallmark hired CSpace to run their Mom'sConnection Panel. It has been active for a few years, however there are mothers' complaining that deceptive language and advertising is/was used to solicit their participation.

Hallmark hired CSpace to facilitate a Moms' Connection Panel. The panel often required a lot of the mothers' time and offered little to no compensation. They claimed the mothers' names were being entered for various drawings, but the winner's names were never announced. Furthermore, several mothers became suspicious when they asked for clarification on the language being used to solicit the mothers' participation and they received replies like "You agreed to this", or sometimes no reply at all.

Several mothers allege that deceptive language was being used on the site and in emails to solicit the participation of the mothers for the panel. For example "4 Members will Win $20 Amazon Gift Cards!" actually meant that 4 members would get $5 Amazon gift cards each. However, the winner's names were never posted and these claims could never be verified. Any inquiry was met with fierce resistance or never responded to at all.

When one mother brought her complaints about the Hallmark's Moms' Connection Panel to the attention of Hallmark and CSpace, her account was closed and pending rewards/points forfeited to CSpace. This was never agreed to. Something just doesn't seem right here. Who treats mothers this way?

After dedicating a lot of time and participating in the Moms' Connection Panel since 2012, in 2016 the mother had finally decided to come forward. She stated "It's really sad that a company like Hallmark, worth so much money, is asking so much of these mothers and paying so little." Her suspicion then turned toward CSpace. After sending an e-mail confronting them, the research company chose to close out her account through an employee named Tej Laljie, and said "You agreed to this compensation when you signed up." Nobody agreed to false advertising or bait and switch methods.

The mother contacted a Hallmark executive named Molly Biwer with her initial complaint about the panel. There was an e-mail response to the initial complaint promising to look into the matter, but after weeks, Hallmark executive Molly Biwer failed to follow-up. The mother then made Hallmark aware that CSpace deactivated her account and took her rewards for speaking up and they did nothing. Molly Biwer and other Hallmark executives cc'd on the e-mail never even responded. Apparently this is all sanctioned by Hallmark and it's wrong. The language CSpace uses is deceptive, it's false advertising and Hallmark is complicit. Ripping off moms is one of the worst kinds of deceit a company can participate in.

If you feel you have been ripped off via the false advertising of Hallmark and the CSpace company, via the Moms' Connection panel, please write to [email protected]. Please include your state and a description of what has occurred. A class action lawsuit is being filed in this matter as CSpace and Hallmark have done nothing to rectify the situation. It costs you nothing to be a member of this suit.
