Amman, Jordan – September 2024 – Decoration One is proud to announce that its Aqaba boutique has gained widespread recognition for its innovative and sustainable design, created by the renowned architectural firm FADAA. Located in Jordan's only coastal city, the boutique showcases how modern design can embrace tradition while addressing environmental challenges like climate change and promoting a circular economy.

The boutique features a bio-based concrete Mashrabiyya, a reinterpretation of the traditional Arab architectural element, made using crushed shells from seafood waste in Aqaba. This low-carbon material serves as both a functional sunshade and a key design element, reflecting Decoration One’s commitment to sustainability and innovation. The project exemplifies how local, circular economies can reduce carbon emissions and create new methods of sustainable construction.

In collaboration with local craftspeople, FADAA crafted a flexible retail space that highlights Decoration One’s evolving collections. The space is furnished with modular oak wood tables and hand-chiseled local basalt and limestone pieces, blending natural materials with functionality. This contemporary design enhances the shopping experience while staying true to Arabic heritage.
