When Sleep is Not Enough – 3 Tips to Fight Fatigue

Posted June 21, 2021 by edgemontnaturopathic

You just woke up from an 8-hour sleep that feels anything but. You still feel tired and sluggish and you wish you could crawl back to bed and sleep the rest of the day off.

Now, this might sound normal and acceptable but if this is your reality every day, you might want to do something. Chronic fatigue in North Vancouver just means there’s something wrong with the way your body functions.

Here are the things that you can do to naturally fight off fatigue:

1. Mind what you are eating.

Did you know that what you eat could potentially cause allergies that can make you feel sleepy and tired all the time? You could be sensitive to a particular food and not realize it. It just doesn’t manifest in the way that all other allergy symptoms manifest. This is why people who are allergic to gluten don’t get diagnosed easily. Fatigue is a common problem for them and this is often chalked up to other health concerns or just not getting enough sleep. Try getting a food allergy test and see what foods you are sensitive to.

2. Up your vitamin and mineral intake.

You don’t stand a fighting chance if your body doesn’t have the right arsenal to fight off fatigue in North Vancouver. For instance, a deficiency in B vitamins can make you more susceptible to chronic fatigue. Try taking B complex vitamins to improve metabolic functions that have a direct effect on energy production. You need vitamin B6 to fight off fatigue as well as vitamin B12 that can also help increase energy levels and boost memory functions.

Our bodies also need magnesium and potassium. Unfortunately, we don’t always get the magnesium and potassium that we need from food.

3. Relax your body.

It’s not how long you sleep but the quality of your sleep. If you go to sleep feeling agitated and wound up, it will be hard for your body to relax and get a good quality of sleep.

Get massage therapy to relax your body. You can also practice relaxation techniques such as yoga and meditation. Make sure you don’t drink stimulants before going to bed such as coffee.

Understand why you are suffering from chronic fatigue in North Vancouver first. You can go to clinics like Edgemont Naturopathic Clinic to determine why you are experiencing this problem and what you can do to treat it once and for all.
