If you are planning to reduce your weight with the HCG method, do not miss to contact HCG Weight Loss Clinics Orange County. However, here we are going to discuss, what to eat and what not when you are on an HCG diet.

What to eat?

Lean protein:

The two daily meals of the HCG diet are based on a 3.5-ounce serving of lean protein. Approved options include chicken, egg whites, white fish, crab, lobster, scallops, extra-lean beef, and bison.

Approved vegetables:

Some vegetables are allowed on the plan. To accompany the lean protein at lunch and dinner, a serving of spinach, chard, beet greens, cabbage, lettuce, celery, cauliflower, broccoli, asparagus, tomatoes, onion, shallots, or radishes is allowed.

Approved fruits:

As with vegetables, a limited amount of fruits is approved for HCG meals. These include berries, citrus fruits, and apples, which can be consumed once at lunch and once at dinner.

Herbs and spices:

Because herbs and spices are largely low or zero in calories, they are the primary means of flavoring foods on the HCG diet. Recipes that comply with HCG often use garlic, lemon juice, salt, pepper, rosemary, or thyme to flavor meats and vegetables.

Coffee, tea, and water:

While many of the diet food categories are restrictive, some beverages come without limitations. People on the diet can drink as much coffee, tea, and water as they like. However, coffee and tea can only be sweetened with stevia or saccharin, and the diet only allows one tablespoon of milk per day to add richness to hot beverages.

What not to eat?

Dairy products:

Other than one tablespoon of milk per day, the weight loss phase of the HCG diet does not include dairy products such as cheese, yogurt, ice cream, or additional milk.

High carbohydrate foods:

The HCG diet limits not only calories but carbohydrates as well. While a single piece of toast or a breadstick may be allowed at dinner (depending on the level of calorie intake), grains, muffins, bread, pasta, and other carbohydrate-rich foods are prohibited.

Fats and oils:

Fats and oils do not appear in the HCG diet. Due to the dramatic limitation of caloric intake in the diet, there is no room for the nine calories per gram than fat contains.

Sugary drinks and alcohol:

The HCG diet avoids empty calories that beverages such as soda, beer, and wine can contribute. Coffee, tea, and water are the only acceptable beverages on this meal plan.
