Blakeney Point Seal Trips, famous for its very popular and fascinating voyage through Blakeney Harbour and to the famous Common and Grey Seals colony, is today announcing the relaunch of its ferry boat service.

Known for its historic and picturesque trips along the North Norfolk Coast of the Blakeney Harbour, the Blakeney point Seal Trips operations is known for providing visitors with an unbelievably outstanding and interesting voyage to some of the most sought after wildlife and natural preserves in the United Kingdom.

Their traditional clinker-built ferry boat, Ptarmigan, is designed to take visitors on a fascinating voyage through the Blakeney Harbour and on to the “must visit” seal colony, where both Common and Grey seals reside. “This is particularly a favourite trip for many of our visitors, but more so for bird-watching enthusiasts, some of whom are seeing for the first time bird species such as Terns, Ducks, Geese, Gulls, Cormorants, Shearwaters and Guillamots, and of course, for those who have never seen a seal up close and personal,” said Siemon Scamell-Katz, operator of Blakeney point Seal Trips.

According to Siemon, Common and Grey Seals can be seen year round at Blakeney Point. The Greys produce their pups in November to January, while the Commons prefer to bear their pups in July and August. “However, depending on the availability of fish stock, their numbers can fluctuate, but can total up to 600 at any one time,” said Siemon, but who noted how the seals have become used to the boat.

“Their natural inquisitiveness means that they often surface to stare at us from just a few metres away, an incredible sight,” he added.

Another feature of the hour long trip visitors will find fascinating, according to Siemon has to do with the tour guides’ running commentary of the surrounding areas colourful history, interwoven with the interesting sights of this beautiful harbour and its inhabitants - the seals, birds and other wildlife.
