Food culture is a complex mishmash of history, geography, climate, and social values that go into what food is served, when, where and by whom. It's an important way of preserving and transmitting the culture as a whole. “Lost In Immigration Society” is working on a project where they will be documenting the family recipes of the South Asian immigrants living in the Greater Vancouver region. The society has approached several first and second-generation immigrant families and have requested them to share their culinary secrets. These recipes will be compiled into one E-Book and will be made available free of cost to everyone. The recipes will also be turned into Instagram reels to educate the generation z.

They plan to finish this project by the summer of 2023. The project is currently self-funded, by the founders, Tejasvi Arneja, and Simarpreet Singh, both Indian Immigrants living in Vancouver. They observed how their cultural heritage was depreciating with each generation and decided to create this society to protect and preserve it for the generations to come.

It our culinary heritage to protect and if we do not save it now, our home cooking will be reduced to butter chicken and naan forever” says Arneja, Co-Founder, Lost in Immigration Society.
