A new method of filling cavities in adults without using a dentist's drill has been discovered. According to Montreal International Clinic, the leading Dentist Dubai, this method uses a fluoride varnish instead of the drill which is not a pleasant experience for most people.

The benefits of fluoride for healthy teeth are well documented. How exactly this happens may not be that well known. According to the Dentist Dubai, calcium and phosphate are two minerals which are naturally present in saliva and which boost the natural healing process of teeth, making them more resistant to future decay.

According to one theory, fluoride helps this process by seeping into the enamel of the teeth and drawing these minerals. Another theory is that fluoride strengthens the enamel of teeth before the teeth have even erupted, the reason for its importance to children. Dentists in Dubai also believe that fluoride attack bacteria which produce various acids in the mouth. Studies have also shown that fluoride makes it more difficult for harmful bacteria to stick to the teeth.

Though fluoride varnish has been a standard practice in children's dental care, it hasn't been used often to treat adult patients. But now it's gaining in popularity across the world and Dentists in Dubai are also confident about its success in the Emirate. It's a preventive measure and can help a person ward off cavities. A programme has to be designed for each person for it to be 100 percent successful, which means personal attention and care are required in each case. This means that each person's chances of getting cavities have to be analysed before treatment is carried out. These are some of the reasons why the method of treatment has become so popular.

It appears that treatment had worked well after a proper evaluation had been conducted into a person's chances of getting tooth cavities. Some of the factors are taken into consideration when evaluating a person's chances of getting dental cavities are the level of bacteria in the mouth, medical health and medications used, dietary habits, the flow of saliva in the mouth and any history of decaying teeth.

Certain medications cause symptoms of dry mouth, which place people at higher risk for dental cavities. Saliva helps remove food particles and bacteria from the mouth, thus keeping it clean and hygienic. Dry mouth is caused by the lack of saliva in the mouth.

Studies had shown that drilling teeth and filling the cavities don't stop the bacteria from working in the mouth. Although all bacteria are not harmful, those that are can feed on the sugar that people consume and release acids which lead to the decaying of the tooth enamel, the Dentist Dubai said. A permanent solution came to be necessary to fix the problem rather than drilling and filling teeth every time there is a cavity.

The fluoride varnish appears as a yellowish liquid and is painted on the teeth with a thin brush. It helps with the condition of dry mouth. The treatment takes about a minute and some patients are also prescribed a concentrated fluoride gel to be used at night. If caught early, cavity development can even be reversed with these treatments, according to Dentist Dubai. Treatments of this nature had reduced the need for dental fillings by almost 30-50 per cent.
