Curtis Bay, MD - A new Kiwa KH-55 horizontal machining center has been installed at Command Technology, Inc. The equipment will allow Command Tech to increase the volume, speed and accuracy of the parts machined at their facility. Command manufactures aviation, aerospace, defense, telecommunications and medical products.
Many machine shops have limited or no horizontal machining centers due to their being more expensive than vertical machining centers. This horizontal machining center has a horizontal spindle and holds 120 tools. This allows the tools to stick out the side of the tool holder and cut across the side of a part being manufactured. One advantage of a horizontal machining center is that when machining the side of a part the metal chips do not accumulate in the cutting area. This leaves a clean, uncluttered cutting area.
“Command Tech provides customers with the precision machined parts they require as quickly as possible. The large capital investment in equipment such as the Kiwa KH-55 assures that Command will maintain their leadership in the machining industry,” say company President George Braswell.
With over 25 years of production for well-known clients Command Tech shows that their commitment to the quality and production of their machined parts has served them well.
The Kiwa horizontal machining center has a fixed horizontal spindle. Its 4th axis operation combined with a 10 to 14 second pallet exchange time enables high production machining.
“We look forward to continuing to provide our clients with quality parts in a timely and cost-effective manner,” says Braswell.
The new machining center is one part of Command’s investment in new equipment to continue its position as a leading machine shop.
